    Prerequisite: DAN 211 or departmental permission LEC 0 hrs., LAB 6 hrs., Course fee $20 This advanced-level ballet class will continue the elements of Intermediate Ballet with emphasis onperformance and audition. Some Pointe work may be done. This course is recommended for those students wishing to transfer into a four-year degree program in dance or those seeking a career in dance performance or instruction. Assignments will be given, with additional time spent in a laboratory setting.

Emphasis will be on creative movement and choreography, intricate combinations and movement for the stage. New technique by contemporary artists will be discussed and explored, with emphasis on technical mastery. Assignments to see live modern dance performances will be given. Students will spend additional time in the studio to satisfy course time requirements.

This course is recommended for those students wishing to transfer into a four-year degree program in dance or those seeking a career in dance. Students will spend additional time in the studio to satisfy course time requirements.

    Prerequisites: DAN 136, Dance majors only. LEC 0 hrs., LAB 2 hrs., Course fee $10 This class continues to develop the student as a performer, choreographer, and/or backstage production artist. It is a continuation of Dance Theatre Workshop II and serves as a vehicle for active participation in the CCM Dance Theatre. Students will spend additional time in the studio to satisfy course time requirements.

LEC 0 hrs., LAB 2 hrs., Course fee $10 This class is the culmination of the dance student's participation in the CCM Dance Theatre productions and a continuation of work done in Dance Theatre Workshop III. All aspects of dance production will be covered, with special emphasis on stage lighting. Students will spend additional time in the studio to satisfy course time requirements.

    Prerequisite: DAN 141 LEC 2 hrs., LAB 2 hrs., Course fee $20 This course focuses on both individual and group creativity of new movement phrases using improvisation and other choreographic tools leading to actual compositions by the students. Movement and written assignments will be given, and student and professional choreography will be viewed. Students will spend additional time in the studio to satisfy course time requirements.

    Prerequisite: DAN 224 LEC 2 hrs., LAB 2 hrs., Course fee $20 This course will continue to explore elements of creative dance learned in Choreography I. Musical interpretation, narrative, prop studies, etc., will be stressed. Completed movement phrases leading to actual choreographed dances will be developed and considered for the stage. Costuming, lighting, and preparation for actual presentation will be emphasized. Movement and written assignments, with a final presentation required. Students will spend additional time in a laboratory setting as part of the course.
  • 2.00 Credits

    Prerequisite: Dance Majors only LEC 1 hr., LAB 2 hrs. This course enables the student to complete on-or-off campus work/study in the dance field related to the student's goals as a dance major. Experience is gained in the dance field work force as a dancer, choreographer, instructor, or pre-approved dance program off-campus, or dance administrative work on or off-campus. The work experience is documented by the student and overseen by the professor. Recommendations are given to prospective employers by the faculty observer. This class should be taken in the student' s final semester.
