Emphasis is placed on acquisition of vocabulary, structures and grammatical patterns necessary for comprehension of native spoken and written Spanish at the beginning level. This course includes discussion of Hispanic culture and daily life. SPA-1A is equivalent to the first half of SPA-1. 54 hours lecture and 9 hours laboratory.
