(Prerequisites: ENG100/101) This course will introduce the students to the major aspects of Persian culture, civilization, and history from pre-Islamic times to the present. Social composition of the Persian speaking nations and the issue of national identity will be stressed. The transformation of Persian society will be considered in this course.

Provides a framework for global citizenship, community-building, economic development, social responsibility and service.

Tour foreign location and experience the business, economic, political, legal, and cultural environment of a host country. Development of thorough knowledge of foreign business environment through combination of pre-departure study, on-site lectures and presentations by host country experts and business executives, post-tour analysis and reflection.

Based on a review of relevant theories and current trends, this course examines choices and strategic alternatives available to multinational companies in world markets. Emphasis is placed upon applied strategic analysis and case studies involving corporations in a global setting.

Covers concepts of time, value of money, cash flow, capital rationing, models for evaluation alternatives, sensitivity and probability analysis, depreciation and tax consequences, replacement studies, and consideration of intangibles. Economic analysis under conditions of risk and uncertainty with particular emphasis on engineering systems is covered.

Covers scheduling capacity planning and lot sizing applied to manufacturing and production, multivariate quality control methods, machine control, communications networks, forecasting to develop master production schedules, coordinate inventory ordering policies, sequencing and scheduling methods of flow and job shops, principles and methods of analyzing and solving production problems.

Deals with systematic plant layout methods, analytical and computer-aided approaches for layout program, location models and analysis, material handling concepts, warehousing and storage principles and models-automation in facilities design, study of facilities location, structure, and planning for efficient layout and material handling systems.

Overview of ergonomics, physiology, biomechanics, occupational and industrial psychology, occupational medicine, mental workload, respiratory protection, survival in extreme conditions, occupational hygiene, epidemiology, analyzing work and work station design, manual handling, upper limb and back disorders.
