Styles presented will include electric blues, rockabilly and the British invasion; acid rock and psychedelic blues; corporate rock, metal, and punk; grunge, rap and industrial, as well as current mainstream and alternative styles.     Required of all applied music and music education majors. This course will replace one term of enrollment in applied music, and will be taken either in the term prior to or the term of the student's senior recital (depending upon the date of the recital). The course will be team-taught by members of the music faculty, including the student's applied instructor. The course will consist of a combination of the student's regular weekly applied lesson and a weekly seminar. The seminar will provide a structure for the creation of program notes for the senior recital, as well as the development of a professional portfolio. The latter will include a curriculum vita, concert and recital programs, audio- and videotapes of the student129fs performances, samples of class assignments, and other examples of the student's professional achievements. The course grade will be assigned by the applied teacher, in consultation with the other music faculty involved in the seminar, and with one outside auditor to be selected by the program director from persons recommended by the applied instructor. (1/4 or 1/2 course unit.) Prerequisite: Senior standing.
