Focus on preparing teachers for the role of mentoring student teachers, assistant teachers, parents, and volunteers in early childhood settings. Emphasis is on the role of teachers supervising other adults while simultaneously addressing the classroom needs of the children and parents in the program. Development will focus on the professional self, portfolio development, documentation of the teachersà work with children. Focus on students preparing to work in an early childhood program. Integrating and applying knowledge and understanding of the process of child growth and development to group settings with young children. Incorporates the role of the teacher as it relates to observing, interacting, with children and families, planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, and participating in staff meetings.
