(Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training) reading and writing exam or be hired by a P.O.S.T approved agency; Department of Justice Clearance; Medical Vertification: obtain clearance from a licensed physician to participate in intensive physical activity commensurate with a police academy. Principles, procedures, and techniques of law enforcement; criminal law, patrol procedures, investigative procedures, writing law enforcement reports, defensive and offensive tactics, use of weapons, community relations, police vehicle operations, traffic enforcement, investigation of accidents, first aid and CPR; and the academic and physical skill training and assessment required by the state to meet the minimum standards to be eligible for employment as a peace officer in California.
