Study of critical issues (metrics, diction, figurative language, symbolism, irony and ambiguity, form and structure) and aesthetic issues, including evaluative criteria, followed by close critical analysis of selection of representative poems. Emphasis on critical approaches to dramatic text; study of issues such as plot construction, characterization, special uses of language in drama, methods of evaluation. P/NP or letter grading.
