Overview of the process of collecting, recording, analyzing, and reporting qualitative social data. Emphasis on application of principles; each participant completes an original research project. Macrostructuralanalysis of contemporary multicultural societies; immigration and assimilation in comparative perspective; social construction of racial and ethnic group identities; ethnicity and gender; group conflict and cooperation; controversies surrounding multiculturalism.
