Survey of present day English grammar as informed by contemporary linguistic theories. The major syntactic structures of English; their variation across dialects, styles, and registers, their development, and their usefulness in describing the conventions of English. (Same course as Linguistics 106.) Not open for credit to students who have completed Linguistics 104. GE credit: ArtHum.
