    Introduction to the dynamics of working groups and the impact of leadership on the effectiveness of groups; examination of the linkage between concepts and theories of leadership to the everyday functioning of student organizations; understanding of the role played by structure and governance models in organizational effectiveness. Specific instruction in the principles of administration of: the co-curricular activities; ASBC finances, including budgetary procedures and parliamentary procedures and group dynamics. One hour each week is devoted to a student body and/or business meeting and one hour to in-class instruction. Student officers serving their first term are required by ASBC By-Laws to enroll in this course. Hours: 18 lect, 18 lab for each 2 unit course. CCS: Liberal Arts and Sciences.     Emphasizes behavioral and social science research, including research design, data collection and analysis, and the development of basic computer skills. Students will collect and analyze data from experiments, questionnaires, polls and a variety of methodologies. Recommended: PSYC B5 or MATH B22, Reading Level 5 or 6, English Level 5. Hours: 54 lect.     An introduction to the scientific study of the biological bases for human thought and behavior. Emphasis placed on functioning of brain structures and brain chemistry in learning, memory, motivation, emotion, sensation, perception, states of consciousness, pain, and psychopathology: other areas include coverage of genetics, the nervous system and its structures and processes, stress and health, and endocrinology.     Readings and practice in skills for effective functioning in interpersonal and group settings, including active listening, interviewing, group interaction and decision making. Emphasizes the development of skills specific to human services settings, relating across differences in race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and social class in preparation for the workplace.     Examines the effects of group behavior on the individual, including, but not limited to, the study of conformity, mass communication, propaganda, persuasion, attitude formation, and attitude change. Also discusses self-justification, prosocial behavior, aggression, prejudice, attraction, attribution, perception, motivation, and interpersonal relations. Includes the application of the scientific method and research strategies in social psychology. Recommended: SOCI B1 or PSYC B1a, Reading Level 5 or 6, English Level 5. Hours: 54 lect. Offered: F, S.     Psychological research assistant and/or tutor. Work primarily on research projects or in a tutorial relationship with students enrolled in a course which the enrollee has completed with a high level of mastery. Recommended: PSYC B1a with a grade of "B" and completion of the course in which student will beassisting with a grade of "B." Students interested in researchshould have completed or be currently enrolled in PSYC B5. Hours: 54 by arrangement for each unit. Repeat 3, or until a maximum of 4 units is reached.
