Provides students with the competencies required for certification by Peace officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) for Penal Code 832, Firearms. Students will engage in the use of firearms which will include handgun familiarization, safety, care, cleaning and storage, and firearms range qualification. Per Penal Code section 13511.5, students must obtain written clearance from the California Department of Justice verifying that they are not prohibited from possessing firearms.
