Limitation on Enrollment: Application procedure. Acceptable for credit: CSU, UC-Determined after admission Supervised on-the-job learning relating to a student's career and educational goals. Designed for students capable of independent work in a specific discipline who desire applied study beyond the classroom experience. Students wishing to enroll should first visit the website, http://service-net.org/ahc.cfm, to enter the internship network as an intern applicant; review the field experience opportunities by discipline; and contact the appropriate faculty coordinator. A contract will be developed with faculty advisement and supervision. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure the internship contract form is completed and submitted to the Admissions and Records office by the contract deadline dates. Students must comply with application procedures and requirements determined by each discipline. Students may enroll in only one work-based learning course at a given work site and may earn up to a combination of 8 work-based units during the enrollment period. A student may earn a maximum of 16 work-based units. Field experience units are earned based on total hours worked within the enrollment period.Paid Placement 1 unit - 75 hours 2 units - 150 hours 3 units - 225 hours 4 units - 300 hours 5 units - 375 hours 6 units - 450 hours 7 units - 525 hours 8 units - 600 hours Unpaid Placement (i.e., service learning) 1 unit - 60 hours 2 units - 120 hours 3 units - 180 hours 4 units - 240 hours 5 units - 300 hours 6 units - 360 hours 7 units - 420 hours 8 units - 480 hours Internship experience is available in the disciplines listed below. Five hours lecture, one hour lab weekly. CAN ITAL 2, CAN ITAL SEQ A, acceptable for credit: CSU, UC An introduction to current Italian, stressing pronouncing, understanding, speaking, writing, and reading the language. In a question and answer format, students receive oral and written practice in sentence structure, vocabulary, and idiomatic Italian. Includes an introduction to some cultural aspects of Italy. Five hours lecture, one hour lab weekly. Prerequisite: Italian 101 or two years of high school Italian. CAN ITAL 4, CAN ITAL SEQ A, acceptable for credit: CSU, UC A continuation of Italian 101 emphasizing oral and written participation. Continues the cultural introduction to some aspects of Italian history, art, music, customs, and folklore. (GR/P/NP) (S)

Five hours weekly. Prerequisite: Italian 103. Acceptable for credit: CSU, UC A review of advanced grammar, with increased practice in reading, writing, and speaking Italian. The study of Italian culture and history begun in Italian 103 is expanded and contemporary Italian literature is introduced. (GR/P/NP) (F)

Two hours weekly. Prerequisite: Italian 101. Acceptable for credit: CSU Designed to help students sharpen their conversational skills in Italian by increasing their vocabularies and perfecting grammatical structures learned in Italian 101. Emphasis is on improving aural-oral skills. (GR/P/NP) (F1)

CAN JOUR 2, acceptable for credit: CSU A practical introduction to news writing and reporting, emphasizing techniques for news gathering, interviewing, organizing notes, and writing.
