Study of hardware and software platforms related to network installation, maintenance, upgrade, and repair. Major study areas will include server and workstation hardware requirements; WAN upgrading; network operating systems (Novell NetWare, Microsoft Windows NT, and UNIX) including client software (16-bit and 32-bit); backup and disaster planning for networks; network preventive maintenance; adding network services (network printing, network CD-ROMs, network modems, internet access); troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
