This course explores the advanced technology controls that have become common in industrial applications but are just emerging in HVAC applications. The latest HVAC control technologies will be examined, and the ability to optimize systems and minimize energy consumption will be covered. Specific coverage will include controls for heat pumps, boiler pumps, and chiller optimization. The course will also address environmental controls, wireless controls, computer controls, and building automation. Prerequisites: HVAC 1215 and ET 2414.

This course covers theory and operation of air to air and geothermal heat pump systems. Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of these systems will be performed in laboratory and on commercial/residential systems as available. Prerequisites: HVAC 1106 and HVAC 1215.

This course covers the mass media - newspapers, magazines, radio, television, public relations, and advertising - covering the media's history and pioneers in the field, the problems and future of the varying media, professional ethics, and the theory of mass communications with emphasis on evaluating the media's effect on society. Processing and printing of color photos are included in the course. Prerequisite: JOUR 1303 with a grade of "C" or better or consent of instructor.

This course provides a comprehensive review of basic mathematics that students will apply in their Certificate or AAS program. The course content is individualized for each student and will include fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, metric system, formula manipulation, computer familiarization, and calculator use. This six-week course is required of all trade and industry technical students.

This course covers basic algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric skills that students will apply in their Certificate or AAS program. Topics include signed numbers, algebraic notation, linear equations in one and two variables, rectangular coordinates, geometric terms, estimating and billing, introduction to trigonometry, and individual and group problem solving skills. This nine-week course immediately follows MAT 1001. Prerequisite: MAT 1001 or CP 0613 with a grade of "C."

This is a computer-based algebra course for those students that need additional practice of algebra skills before enrolling in MAT 1223 College Algebra. All assignments will be completed in the computer classroom with instructor assistance as needed. Additional lab hours will be available to enable students to complete assignments. It covers the topics of linear equations and inequalities, graphs and functions, polynomials and factoring, rational expressions, radicals, complex numbers, and quadratic equations. Prerequisites: CP 0633 with a "C" or better or MAT 1002 with a "C" or better or MaACT of 15-20.
