    This course covers architecture, programming, and interfacing of representative microprocessors with emphasis on industrial control applications. It uses microprocessor-based trainers to cover instruction sets, addressing schemes, input/output control, interrupts, arithmetic operations, assembly-level programming, subroutines, and peripheral interfacing, and applies basic microprocessor theory to the operation of microcontrollers using microcontrollers common to industry. This culminates in a study of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), which trains students in typical programming and interfacing applications found in local industries. Pre or co-requisite: ET 2014.

    This course is a concentrated study of Radio/Television theory with an emphasis on signal transmission, including the study of radio-frequency amplifiers, basic transmitters, amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, antennas, measuring frequency, standard broadcast stations, microwaves, and FCC radio-telephone regulations. Study and preparation for the FCC general license will form an integral part of this course. Prerequisite: ET 2254 or permission from the instructor.

    This course involves extensive study of a hands-on studio/control room experience in video production systems. The course includes videotape and VCR units for studio and field production use, videodisk-editing systems, video editing, lenses, production lighting, and radio/television production procedures. Prerequisites: ET 2033 and ET 2514 or permission of the instructor.

    The first semester introduces the student to film as an art form, concentrating largely on cinematic treatments of literary and dramatic works, but including other notable films as well. The second semester places heavy emphasis on stories, characters, and themes having to do with aspects of the humanities; namely art, philosophy, architecture, music, literature, drama, and other facets of our culture and our civilization as they are dealt with on film. Taking both 1203 and 1213 satisfies 6 hours of the Humanities requirements. Since Film Classics I is not a prerequisite of Film Classics II, these may be taken in any order.

    Both courses are designed for students beginning their study of the language. Each stresses, by means of classroom recitation and laboratory periods with recordings, the basic vocabulary and grammatical structures that will enable the student to speak, read, and write Spanish. In addition, students will learn something about the culture of which the Spanish language is an integral part. FL 1303 Beginning Spanish with a "C" orhigher is a prerequisite to Intermediate Spanish unless permission of the instructor is obtained.

    This course introduces mapping concepts and elements of cartography including construction of general and thematic maps. Course topics include map projections, coordinate systems, processing geographic data, map compilation and design, and typography.

    This course surveys the earth's crustal features and the forces which form and recycle it. Labs will include the study of rocks, minerals, land formation, and topographic maps of local and global interest. Prerequisite: RED 1003 with a "C" or better or ACT ReadingScore of 19 or higher (81 on Compass) AND CP 0633 with a grade of "C" or higher orMath ACT of 15 or higher (19 or higher on Compass Algebra).

    This course provides students with the basic safety knowledge required in today's industrial workplace. Topics covered include accident reduction, safety training, safety involvement, safety inspections, accident investigations, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, machine safeguarding, tool safety, materials-handling safety, electrical and fire safety, hazard communication and OSHA regulations related to these topics.

    This course provides an opportunity for students to earn credit toward an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, technical certificate (TC) or certificate of proficiency (CP) through supervised on-the-job training in a field directly related to their program of study. Generally, credit will be granted based on 30 to 40 hours of supervised work experience for each GTT 2000 credit hour. Arrangements with employers offering internship opportunities will be documented using a North Arkansas College Cooperative Internship form. Pre- or co-requisite: Enrollment in an AAS, TC or CP program that allows internship credit.
