The third in a series of courses dealing with Object Oriented Programming, this course develops an advanced level of understanding of object oriented technology. Topics include design patterns, application frameworks, and n-tiered architectures. Students learn a systematic methodology for developing successful software projects written either by an individual or by a team. Also, the design process will use UML methodologies. Prerequisite: CIS 2743. Pre- or co-requisite: CIS 2663.

This course teaches the basic elements of Adobe Photoshop, an image-editing program that has the capability of creating original artwork, retouching or modifying artwork, and merging and editing color images. It is the tool of choice for graphic professionals and is useful for those interested in producing images for online and print media. Prerequisite: CIS 1103.

In this course students learn to create and publish custom web applications with .NET code using ASP.NET. Topics include multi-page web applications, testing and debugging web applications, session and application variables, cookies, and ASP.NET controls, including server controls, validation controls, and user controls. Prerequisite: CIS 2733. Pre- or co-requisite: CIS 2743 or permission of instructor.

The development of professional web sites can be quite complex. Course topics include secure connections, restricted logins, user roles, profiles, and e-mailing from a web site. Students will also learn to use intermediate and advanced ASP.NET web controls on their forms. Prerequisites: CIS 2873, CIS 2663, and CIS 1633 or permission of instructor.

In this capstone course, students work together to complete computer software projects. With the use of Microsoft's Team System software, students collectively work to define projects by gathering requirements and using UML modeling techniques. Then the development phase includes Windows and web forms and web service interfaces. Data storage and retrieval will be handled with MS SQL Server and XML-formatted data. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor or Dean.

This course is intended for prospective instructors of Cisco Networking Academy courses and provides an introduction to the Cisco Networking Academy Program. Topics covered include: ? Introduction to the Cisco Networking Academy Program to include its goals, hierarchy, and program guidelines. ? Use of the Cisco Networking Academy Management System (CNAMS) for curriculum and classroom management. ? Guidance on how to manage and facilitate the growth of an Academy program. ? Review of pedagogy and best practices for the Academy program. ? Description of resources available to instructors participating in the Academy Program. This course is required of all instructors planning to teach a Cisco Networking Academy Course.

Basic Networking is the first of four courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation. CCNA 1 introduces students to the networking field. The course focuses on the following: Network terminology, Network protocols, Local- Area Networks (LANs), Wide-Area Networks (WANs), Open System Interconnection (OSI) model, cabling, cabling tools, routers, router programming, Ethernet, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, and Network standards. In addition, the course provides instruction and training in the proper care, maintenance, and use of networking software, tools, and equipment. This course focuses on initial router configuration, Cisco IOS Software management, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP, and access control lists (ACL's). This course prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Professional Windows XP Professional Certification Exam. Topics include workstation pre-install planning, installation and configuration, workgroup and local account creation and management, workgroup object security and management, workgroup printers and remote access, application support, network interoperability, workstation monitoring, and troubleshooting. Prerequisite: CIS 1103 or permission of the instructor.

This course prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Professional Windows 2003 Certification Exam. Topics include server pre-install planning, installation and configuration, active directory, domain account creation and management, domain object security and management, domain printers and server remote access, network interoperability, and server monitoring and troubleshooting. Prerequisite - CIT 1123 or permission of the instructor.
