Many Windows and web applications access databases. In this course, students learn the basics of designing database applications using MS SQL Server as well as designing and administering databases using the Structured Query Language (SQL). It also teaches the retrieval, printing, and importation of data. Prerequisite: CIS 1103 or permission of instructor.

This course continues the development of applied programming skills using Visual Basic and focuses on practical topics such as form design, multi-form applications, collections, file handling, database access, and printing. It introduces object oriented programming only in a minimal way. Software: latest Visual Basic.NET. Pre- or Co-requisite: CIS 1603.

The course emphasizes the application of computers to sound accounting practices. Students learn to direct the computer functions to accomplish the various steps learned in accounting principles in accordance with generally accepted procedures. Prerequisite: BA 1113 or 2003 or Dean's approval.

This advanced course, the third in a series of four GIS courses, challenges students to broaden their skills with ArcView and its related extensions. Students analyze and manipulate data utilizing ArcView Spatial Analyst and 3D Image Analysis to create and interpret complex maps. Prerequisites: CIS 1133 or permission of instructor.

The last in a series of four GIS courses is a capstone course for students which studies management of geographic information, system life cycle costs, and benefits. Topics include management of data, information storage/access, standards for spatial data, and demographic modeling and analysis. Projects involve applying GIS tools to analyze complex multidimensional problems. Upon completion and successful approval of their capstone project, the student will be eligible to test for national GIS Certification. Prerequisite: CIS 2123 or permission of instructor.

This course includes the basics of desktop publishing skills using the software Adobe InDesign. Students learn not only the mechanics of desktop publishing, but also the basics of publishing and graphic design. Prerequisite: CIS 1103

This course introduces students to the field of digital video production and post production. It also introduces various forms and styles of video, film, and audio production. Students learn how to edit video, still photographs, and audio using Apple G5 workstations and Final Cut Pro HD software and will be expected to produce several projects of increasing complexity over the semester. Prerequisite: CIS 1103 or permission of instructor.

This course familiarizes students with the scope of the online economy and to provide the technical skills necessary to participate effectively in this rapidly evolving area. Students learn about copyrights, intellectual property, electronic pay systems, and security necessary to conduct business over the web, as well as create a fully functional ecommerce web site in order to demonstrate mastery of course concepts and skills. Prerequisites: BA 1003 and either CIS 2833 or CIS 2733, or permission of instructor.

This course focuses on learning to use the Adobe Illustrator program. Illustrator is used for the completion of all design projects assigned. Prerequisite: CIS 1103

This course provides experience on projects incorporating a variety of digital media tools, including illustration, web design, photography, image editing, 2D and 3D animation, and digital audio and video production and editing techniques. This course is a capstone for art and graphic/web design students to be taken at the end of their program of studies to prepare them for employment in that field. Students will produce several projects of increasing complexity over the semester. Prerequisite: CIS 2253 or permission of instructor.
