This course serves as an introduction into fundamental nursing principles, nursing process, attitudes, skills and common procedures necessary for safe care. Legal, ethical and historical data and concepts are discussed. Microbiology and principles of asepsis are included. More complex nursing procedures are integrated as the semester progresses.

Prerequisite: PN 1002 Fundamental Pharmacology, PN 1004 Nursing I Clinical Practicum, PN 1007 Nursing Fundamentals. Corequisite: PN 1310 Medical-Surgical Nursing. Experience is obtained caring for medical-surgical and pediatric clients, along with medication administration.

Prerequisite: PN 1002 Fundamental Pharmacology, PN 1004 Nursing I Clinical Practicum, PN 1007 Nursing Fundamentals, PN 1310 Medical- Surgical Nursing, and PN 1106 Clinical Practicum I. Corequisite: PN 1329 Nursing Specialty. Rotations through Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Medical-Surgical units. Also includes 16 hours of Mental Health.

Prerequisite: PN 1013 Nursing I. Corequisite: PN 1106 Clinical Practicum I. This class covers medical and surgical conditions of the adult client. Pharmacology and Nutrition as treatment maladies. Vocational Relationships pertaining to job seeking skills are also covered in this course. Spring Semester.

Prerequisite: PN 1002 Fundamental Pharmacology, PN 1004 Nursing I Clinical Practicum, PN 1007 Nursing Fundamentals, PN 1310 Medical- Surgical Nursing, and PN 1106 Clinical Practicum I. Corequisie: PN 1206 Clinical Practicum II. Instruction in Mental Health Nursing, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, and completion of Medical- Surgical Nursing. This class concludes with a review of ethical/legal concepts pertinent to licensed nurses, and transition skills necessary for moving from student to graduate. Fall Semester.

An introduction to the use of politics for the resolution of conflict in communities, nations, and the international system through the study of political concepts and relationships, with application to current problems.

Prerequisite: Students must meet the criteria under either (a) or (b) as follows: (a) 19 or above on the ACT Reading Test or 44 or above on the ASSET Reading Test; (b) Completion of READ 0033 Advanced Reading Techniques with a grade of "C" or higher. Survey course which asks students to examine the fundamentals and functions of the United States Government and to discuss and debate basic public policy issues. Students gain a better understanding and perspective of the government, the obligations of citizens and their relationship to the government of the United States. A student whose placement score requires READ 0013 or READ 0033 is strongly advised against enrollment in this reading intensive course, prior to completion of READ 0013 College Reading Skills and READ 0033 Advanced Reading Techniques.

This course is designed for all students who need to establish the basic skills essential for college-level reading. The course emphasizes comprehension, vocabulary development, computer lab exercises, and reading techniques for different academic areas. Students must earn a grade of "C" or higher in order to move forwardto the next level. Students who score 0-13 on the ACT, or 23-33 on the ASSET Reading test are required to enroll in and pass this class before moving forward to the next level.

This course is designed to present strategies to improve reading comprehension, speed, critical thinking skills, and to provide vocabulary enrichment. The correlation between active reading and reading expression of ideas will be stressed. Students must earn a grade of "C" or higher in order to move forward to the nextlevel. Students who score 14-18 on the ACT, or 34-43 on the ASSET Reading test are required to enroll in and pass this class before moving forward to the next level.

Corequisite: First semester courses. Study of respiratory care, equipment, and procedures with emphasis placed on therapeutic gas administration, aerosol and humidity therapy, hyperinflation techniques and airway management.
