This course introduces the philosophical tradition of formal and informal logic and applies it to the reasoning we encounter in politics, law, business, the media and everyday life.

    This is a laboratory experience to accompany Earth Science (PSC 101). Topics of this course include minerals and rocks, erosion, topography, earthquakes, plate tectonics, convection, weather prediction, air pressure, currents, lunar observation, orbits, spectroscopy and solar system members. Two hours per week are required. Concurrent enrollment in or previous completion of PSC 101 is required. Designated professional studies.

    This course is an overview of the basic ideas and calculations of physics. Topics covered in the course include motion, momentum, energy, fluids, thermodynamics, waves, electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and an introduction of some modern physics topics. Prerequisite: MA 140 or 145 or equivalent. A student will not receive credit toward graduation requirements for both PSC 103 and PSC 240. This course is designed for the non-science major.

    This course provides hands-on laboratory work to accompany Principles of Physics (PSC 103). Topics include the use of basic laboratory equipment and analyzing results in the study of motion, energy, fluids, circuits and optics. Concurrent enrollment in or previous completion of PSC 103 required. A student will not receive credit toward graduation requirements for both PSC 104 and PSC 241. This course is designed for the non-science major.

    Course is the first of a two-semester sequence in general physics, including mechanics, heat, thermodynamics, sound and wave motion. Four hours lecture/recitation per week is required. Prerequisite: MA 143 or equivalent. A student will not receive credit toward graduation for both PSC 103 and PSC 240.

    Course provides laboratory experiments to accompany Physics I (PSC 240). Two hours per week are required. Concurrent enrollment in or previous completion of PSC 240 required. A student will not receive credit toward graduation requirements for both PSC 104 and PSC 241.
