4 cr. Provides an introduction to 19th- and 20th-century Latin American history. Themes and issues will include the colonial legacy,modernization and nationalism, religion and politics, the revolutionary experience of the 20th century, the role of women and the continuing struggles of indigenous people.

4 cr. An analysis of the influence of culture on health beliefs, values and healthcare practices. Through interactive exercises, case studies, interviews, guest speakers, reflection papers, research and literature, the course investigates the increasingly complex intersection between healthcare delivery and culture. Students also examine the value assumptions of their own health beliefs in an effort to increase their effectiveness in intercultural healthcare settings.

FALL A foundational course designed for students lacking background or needing a review of the basic concepts and operations of mathematics. This course is required of students with an ACT Math sub-score of 17 or less. Course content includes; arithmetic operations with whole numbers, integers, fractions and percents, real numbers, simplifying algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities; and other selected topics suited to individual needs. This course does not meet any requirements for graduation.

FALL and SPRING A mathematics survey course for the liberal arts or general education purposes, including quantitative literacy and mathematics competency. Course content includes problem solving and math modeling, sets, logic, algebra survey, geometry survey, probability and consumer mathematics.

FALL or SPRING This is a one-credit lab focusing on the fundamentals of algebra. The lab addresses equations and inequalities, polynomials, and algebraic functions. Most students whose majors require four credits of mathematics may complete this one credit lab during the same semester as MAT 130. The lab, however, may be taken during a subsequent semester when necessary. This one credit will not be available to students that are currently registered in or have previous credit in College Algebra. Prerequisite or Corequisite: MAT 130 or consent of the instructor
