This course provides the student the experience of working with cases that have multiple program eligibility for the purpose of gaining practical hands-on experience. This class is organized by the student and the isntructor. Students will demonstrate cultural and gender sensitivity and utilize ethical practices. Emphasis will be placed on reading, listening, writing, speaking, spelling, and understanding the statutes and policies governing the eligibility and receipt of public assistance. Students will also be required to utilize problem-solving techniques and critical thinking skills. After completing this course, students will have experience in determining initial and ongoing eligibility for multiple public assistance programs. This variable course is 1-3 credits. Advanced and intense internship in a hospital or clinic setting. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the college facility. Students will broaden and perfect their skills through hands-on participation. Students will be able to carry out everyday duties of the technologist when their clinical experience is complete. Prerequisite(s): ICVT2426, ICVT2446 (13 C: 0 lect/pres, 0 lab, 13 other) CSSC1300 - Career Exploration This course is designed for students who are not enrolled in a program of study and are uncertain about their career choices. The course will assist students in determining educational and career direction through an examination of values, preferences, interests, and skills. In addition, students will become familiar with sources of occupational information. Decision-making and goal setting skills are utilized in the development of an educational and career plan. The goal of the learning community at SCTC is to promote student success.
