3 credit hours This course examines spirituality from a holistic approach encompassing one's relationships to self, others, the earth or world (society, nature, work, recreation, environment, etc.), and God within and beyond all other realities. The contemporary women's spirituality explored in this course is rooted both within the Christian tradition and women's deepened understanding of their experience and uniqueness within it. 3 credit hours The spiritual autobiography, which is a requirement of the Ministry Formation Program, is developed and completed in this course. Th 323 promotes theological reflection on the and status; basic dynamic of the formation-transformation cycle expressed in the death and resurrection of Jesus. This course will include a study of contemporary areas of holistic spirituality as they impact on ministry and ministerial identity. Open only to Ministry Formation students and Theology Majors. 3 credit hours Formerly Th 344 Parish Program Planning. This course prepares ministers to design programs and activities to meet the varied needs of parishes. Topics include: analysis of parish as a context for ministry; an understanding of the elements of a successful parish and effective leadership; discernment of needs of the parish; vision for program possibilities; an experience of a step by step process for planning a program; and standards for ministry rooted in civil and canon law and professional ethics. 3 credit hours This course explores the development of Catholic doctrine as an historical, cultural, and theological process. Christian worship, the teachings of theologians, the devotions of popular piety, creeds and other official pronouncements of church councils and popes through the ages shape and carry this process forward. Such enculturation and doctrinal development will be analyzed in seminar fashion through the lenses of church teachings on the Trinity, Jesus, and Mary. 3 credit hours This practicum begins with an observation phase, expands with a participation phase, and culminates with a supervised ministry phase. Students develop measurable objectives for each of these phases and are assessed in the light of these objectives. The particular ministry setting in which this field placement takes place and the ministry supervisor in that setting needs prior approval by the professor. This approval is granted in the light of the ministry for which the student is preparing and in light of the National Certification Standards related to that ministry. In such a supervised ministry experience students have opportunities to deepen the basic personal, spiritual, theological, pastoral, and professional qualities needed for effective ministry. Prerequsites: Junior status or permission of the instructor.

3 credit hours This course examines the book of Psalms, including its place in the life of Jewish and Christian worshipping communities. It also analyzes the traditions of the sages of Ancient Israel contained in the books of Proverbs, Qoheleth, Job, Sirach, Wisdom and the Song of Songs. Prerequisite: Th 101 or permission of instructor.

3 credit hours A study of the Beatitudes that emphasizes their implications for First World Christians. An investigation of the parable form, its significance and theology, using a combination of form-critical, theological, and literary approaches to the parables. Prerequisite: Th 105.

3 credit hours This course is designed for persons responsible for or preparing for administering or leading catechetical and formational programs, including youth ministry programs. It includes a vision of the fields of catechetics and youth ministry, approaches to intergenerational catechesis, components of good programming, strategies and techniques for effective program leadership, and evaluation techniques. 3 credit hours An in-depth study of the rites of Christian initiation of adults from the perspectives of the dynamics of religious conversion and the pastoral, sacramental processes of initiation into the Catholic faith community.
