This course provides an introduction to animal science, with an emphasis on physiology, nutrition, animal breeding and management as applied to beef cattle, dairy cattle, poultry, sheep and swine production.

This course emphasizes utilization of land, labor, capital and management in the organization and operation of a farm, and includes the decision-making processes involved in establishing a farm business. Analyzing, budgeting, and using principles of economics are considered in decision-making.

This course introduces the business of agriculture and computerized record keeping. This is an applied course of record keeping and financial statements. Students will utilize computerized records (cash and accrual accounting), manage inventories and generate financial documents. Topics include calculation of earnings, efficiency factors, total business and enterprise analysis.

This course is designed to give the student an understanding of an automotive shop environment. They will learn occupational safety, proper use of power and hand tools, shop equipment, fasteners, precision measuring instruments, electronic information, writing electronic repair orders and industry expectations.

Co-requisite: AMST1101. This course focuses on the varied suspension systems currently in use, including McPherson strut, leaf spring, coil spring and torsion bar. Also covered will be caster, camber and toe, and other alignment angles; wheel balance using the latest road force technology; and operation, diagnosis and repair of manual and power steering systems.

Co-requisite: AMST1101. This course teaches the basic principles of disc and drum brakes, hydraulic systems, parking brakes and power assist units. Emphasis is placed on operation, diagnosis and repair of various types of brake systems. Basic operation of anti-lock brake systems will be covered.
