Credits: 3 Prerequisite: none The purpose of Technical Theatre is to give students a basic working knowledge of backstage work in theatre, primarily the construction and rigging of stage scenery This is accomplished through lectures and hands-on experience in both the scene shop and the theatre. Other areas, such a scene painting and some special effects for the theatre, will be covered as well. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): 6

Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This course will give students exposure to a select number of live theatre productions in the Twin Cities, Duluth, and/or other areas in the state of Minnesota. Students will first read the script of a play, then see a performance of it. Students will then engage in a comparative analysis through class discussion and/or analysis papers. Ticket fees are extra. Transfer Curriculum Goal(s): 6

Credits: 2 Prerequisite: none This course will examine the theatre-going experience, including audience etiquette, stage conventions, reading a play script, and analyzing a performance. The course will use a trip to New York City as an applied field trip. Plays will be selected on the basis of the New York theatre season offerings during the time of the trip.
