MUS 132: Piano II

Piano II is designed to continue and further establish a strong foundation in playing the piano. Students will receive more advanced training in technique, intervals, ear training, rhythm, fingering, basic harmony, performance and ensemble playing appropriate to level two. The course develops the effective practice methods introduced in MUS130 Piano I with more challenging piano literature in its historical perspective.

Students will perform keyboard works together in small and large groups. Though the emphasis will be on music for keyboard instruments, other instrumental performers and vocal soloists may join the ensemble to perform with a keyboard accompanist. A final recital will be performed by the members of the ensemble. An audition will be required for all participants.
