    Dance Performance II focuses on dance rehearsal and production. Advanced techniques of ballet, modern and/or jazz will be studied. Students will continue application of dance technique through more advanced choreography, the development and production of four dances, and participation in public relations and budgeting. The general principles of dance technique requires turn-out, proper alignment, weight distribution, stance, transfer of weight, squareness, pull-up or lift, counter-pull, counter balance, aplomb and balance. See Dance Coordinator if you have physical limitations that may prevent you from completing these activities.

    Dance Pedagogy is the study of the theories and practices of teaching, in accordance with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework for the Arts. Students explore various classical dance and creative movement techniques, and integrate them into Lesson Plans for K-12, for use in either the school or dance studio setting. Basic elements of anatomy and physiology, nutrition and injury prevention are learned in the classroom. Hands-on learning at local studios and schools is required, in the form of observation and a supervised practicum. PLEASE NOTE: CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), CHRI (Criminal Records Central Repository) and/or SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) checks are required prior to participation in this course. Faculty approval is required for registration.

    This course is a continuation of Dance Pedagogy I and will build on the teaching methods presented in Dance Pedagogy I. In this course students will focus on a particular age level and dance idiom of their choice by learning teaching methods suitable for their particular age group. They will use this information in a hands-on situation by selecting an off-campus site, such as a public school or dance studio, to apply and hone the skills learned on campus. CORI/SORI required for this course. PLEASE NOTE: CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), CHRI (Criminal Records Central Repository) and/or SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) checks are required prior to participation in this course.

    Dance Composition II course builds on the choreographic techniques used in Dance Composition I. Students will be given more advanced experiences in improvisation and composition techniques and will experiment with various academically-based concepts such as myth, literature, and psychology. The General principles of dance technique encompass turn-out, proper alignment, weight distribution, stance, transfer of weight, squareness, pullup or lift, conterpull, counter balance, aplomb, and balance.     This course includes the fundamental principles and skills of the chairside dental assistant working in a general dentistry setting and introduces the dental assisting process in the areas of infection control and four handed dentistry. The course provides an overview of the specialties of oral and maxillofacial surgery, endodontics and orthodontics and integrates the clinical and classroom components to provide students with both theory and actual clinical experience. PLEASE NOTE: CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), CHRI (Criminal Records Central Repository) and/or SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) checks are required prior to participation in this course.

    This course provides the student with an understanding of the wide range of natural and synthetic substances and products commonly used in the delivery of oral health care today. The student will learn the physical and biologic properties of current dental materials through class lecture as well as laboratory exercises where the student will demonstrate the efficient preparation, manipulation and practical application of dental materials.

    This course is designed to examine the theoretical aspects and biological effects of radiation production, radiation safety, infection control, darkroom processing, extra-oral projections and radiographic interpretation. The paralleling exposure technique will be emphasized, including digital radiography. Proficiency in radiographic technique will be accomplished on a manikin.
