This course explores the fundamentals of Local Area Networking. Hardware topics include network interface cards, transmission media, topology, hubs, bridging and the Ethernet, Wireless Home Networking, and EIA/TIA design standards. Also, an introduction to the OSI Reference Model will be discussed. Software topics include hands-on exercises exploring fundamental file system and network resources utilizing the Microsoft Windows network operating system.

This course will explore the seamless integration of Wide Area Network services and Local Area Network architecture. Topics include WAN data communications (TCP/IP, ADSL, Cable Modems, ISDN, T1/T3, Frame Relay and ATM), wireless networking, LAN hubs, switches, VLANs, routers, IP Addressing, IP Subnetting, NAT and firewalls. Also, an in-depth study of the OSI Reference Model, TCP/IP Model and TCP/IP Subprotocols, such as ICMP, ARP, FTP, DNS and DHCP will be covered.

In this course, the student will gain practical and theoretical experience to perform as an entry level EKG Technician. Basic anatomy and physiology of the heart will be reviewed as well as clinical indications for EKG testing, holter monitoring and stress testing. Additionally, students will learn basic interpretation of rhythms, major cardiac diseases and the legal and ethical responsibilities of the role of the EKG Technician.

Dance Composition is designed to provide students with a broad perspective on movement, choreography and composition, through the study of dance history and various choreographic techniques. Students will have the opportunity to create and perform their individual works in a student performance to be given at the end of the semester.

An introductory class in various dance styles and techniques including ballet, jazz dance, modern dance, world dance, along with creative movement. Contemporary Ballet will utilize classical ballet principles and progress to the refinement of ballet technique through the use of modern dance principles. The combinations of movements from the classical ballet vocabulary will continue to emphasize proper alignment, strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility. The course will include a study of contemporary ballet history and the objective criticism of dance. The general principles of dance technique require proper alignment, center point of balance, opposition balance, transfer of weight, specific rhythmic patterns, turns and turning techniques.
