    Figure Drawing with Programmable Calculator Pre: Co: Elect:OPEN, LA, HUMANITIES Investigation into the skeletal and muscular systems of the human body, progressing to study of mathematical perspective, and culminating in competion of a series of figure drawings demonstrating accurate manipulation of the figure through incorporation of these elements.

    Studies in Asian Art Pre: Co: The course proposed will examine the pictorial nature of Asian Art, specifically Hindu as a means of expressing contemporary ideas about an American woman of the Hindu faith. The project will result in the production of at least eight small works of art, each one providing commentary on contemporary issues. An exhibition will follow. Fulfills liberal arts and open electives.

    The Art of the Web Pre: Communications Proficiency Co: This course teaches students to think critically about visual images on the World Wide Web. It examines a variety of online art museums and multimedia Web sites on architecture, design, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, video and new media. Students learn to critique the quality of images, the content of Web sites and the technology used to present images. Discussion includes the cultural, ethical and philosophical issues raised by the proliferation of images on the Web. Fulfills open, liberal arts, and humanities electives.

    The Art of Studying Pre: Co: Elect:OPEN A survey of significant issues in study habits and styles that enhance learning and contribute to better grades. Emphasis is on developing skills in the art of listening, note taking, time management, following directions and test taking. Fulfills open elective only. (1 hour of lecture per week)

    Elementary American Sign Language 1 Pre: Co: An introduction to ASL, the native language of deaf people in the United States. Emphasis on basic ASL vocabulary and grammatical rules, manual alphabet and numbers, visual/ gestural communication, and information about deaf culture. Fulfills open, liberal arts, humanities, and modern language electives.

    Elementary American Sign Language 2 Pre: ASL101 Co: A continuation and refinement of the skills introduced in ASL101. Emphasis will be on acquiring a natural grace of signing, understanding the nuances of deaf culture, and expanding use of ASL vocabulary and grammar. All classes will be taught in ASL. Fulfills open, liberal arts, humanities, and modern language electives.

    Private Pilot Ground School Pre: Communications and Mathematics Proficiencies Co: This FAA approved Part 141 ground school includes basic flight concepts, principles of meteorology, airman publications, map projections, pre-flight planning, computer and course plotting, basic radio navigational systems and applications, federal air regulations, use of avionics and emergency procedures. This course prepares students for the FAA Private Pilot written examination. (60 hours, 4 hours of lecture per week) Course restricted to Aviation Science Professional Pilot and Aviation Management majors.

    Commercial Pilot Ground School Pre: AVS101, AVS103 Co: AVS104, AVS107 This FAA approved Part 141 ground school includes advanced flight concepts, weight and balance, advanced performance, reciprocating and gas turbine engine theory, advanced environmental considerations, aircraft propeller theory and operations, principles of meteorology, airman publications, map projections, pre-flight planning, complex computer and course plotting, advanced radio navigational systems and applications, federal air regulations, use of avionics, cockpit resource management, decision making, communications and emergency procedures. This course prepares students for the FAA Commercial Pilot written examination. (60 hours, 4 hours of lecture per week) Course restricted to Aviation Science Professional Pilot majors.
