Recreational Racquetball Pre: Co: Focuses on the fundamental skills necessary for active participation in racquetball. Rules of the game will be covered as well as game strategies. Game participation is required.

Recreational Running Pre: Co: Introduces the student to the concept of the extraordinary world of running and will focus on helping the student set up a program of recreational running that will meet individual student needs.

Recreational Volleyball Pre: Co: Covers the rules, fundamentals, skills, techniques and strategy of the game of volleyball. Game participation may be required.

Recreational Canoeing Pre: Co: Introduction to canoeing covering canoeing nomenclature and techniques; safety and rescue procedures, maintenance of equipment and navigational principles. This course is designed to assist the student in becoming proficient in the skills necessary for flat water canoeing.

Beginner Golf Instruction Pre: Co: Designed to introduce the student to the fundamentals of golf its history, rules, etiquette, equipment selection, grips, stance, and swing. Practice sessions will include driving, long and short irons, and putting. Emphasis will be on developing an understanding and enjoyment of the game.

Beginner Tennis Instruction Pre: Co: Designed to meet the needs of the beginner. Areas covered include history, lore, equipment selection, rules, etiquette, grip, serve, movement while making shots, and basic strategy of the game. Students will be expected to participate in skill practice sessions with other members of the class.

Bicycling for Fun and Fitness Pre: Co: Designed to introduce the beginner cyclist to the techniques necessary to operate a bicycle in a safer manner so as to have fun, enjoy the outdoors and stay fit. Areas covered include proper bike selection, care and maintenance, rules of the road, safety, gear selection and endurance building. The student will be introduced to cycling organizations and travel opportunities. Course requirements include a field trip on a bicycle. Students will be required to supply their own bicycles.

Recreational Backpacking and Camping Pre: Co: Designed to introduce the student to the techniques necessary to plan, organize, and carry out a backpacking and camping trip in a safe and enjoyable manner for an individual or a group. Areas covered include equipment selection, use of maps and guidebooks, meal planning, campsite selection, camping etiquette, and pretrip conditioning. Course requirements include an overnight camping trip. Students are expected to supply their own sleeping gear and food as well as proper clothing for the camping trip.

Practical Self-Defense Pre: Co: Designed to introduce the student to the nature of violence in our society; to ways in which we can avoid violent situations; to the need for knowledge of self-defense and to practical self-defense techniques that may be used to defend against violent attack. Student participation in skills sessions is required.
