    Preparation of Individual Federal & State Tax Returns Pre: Co: An introduction to the preparation of individual tax returns. Emphasis will be placed on who has to file a return, sources of income subject to taxation, allowable deductions and credits. The provisions of the Job and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 will be analyzed in detail. The proper preparation of tax forms will be illustrated by the use of a "hyerthetical" taxpayer.

    Portfolio Construction in Today's Volatile Market Pre: Co: Unprecedented market volatility has caused investors to fear investing. Much money is now being kept in cash. We will bring to light basic portfolio management concepts and application that investment professionals apply. This course will be structured in four parts: stock analysis, bond analysis, portfolio construction, and derivative risk management. For the stock component, we will discuss valuations, performance, historical returns, world market indices, and the impact of historical events on the market and the recovery thereof. In the bond component, we will review the various bond markets, how they are valued, their relationship with interest rates, and how inflation has impacted the bond markets.
