    Landscape and Garden Maintenance - Fall, No Andover Pre: Co: Enjoy learning "on-site" at Stevens Coolidge Place in North Andover, managed by the Trustees of Reservations. This outstanding 91-acre Colonial Revival estate is a typical "country place" of the early 1900s--a rural retreat designed as a complex of garden "rooms." This is a hands-on opportunity to participate in fall landscaping and garden maintenance with a field professional/supervisor.

    The Professional Florist One This is a "hands-on", new certificate program course for both florists and advanced design students exploring the "ARTSY" side of design. Hogarth, Parellel Systems, Waterfall, Vegative Landscape and Tuft Workpieces are the 5 styles we will explore then create. Students are taught the theory and then use what they learn to free their own design. If time allows each piece can be voluntarily critiqued. This class is a must if you are thinking of entering design competitions.

    The Professional Florist Two This "new" certificate program class is for the advanced student or florist looking to enrich their design creativity. Our projects will include: a crescent- shaped floral arrangement, a choice of one or two-tiered arrangements, a fresh floral wreath, learning the art and technique of "hand wrapping" bouquets to stand on their own as vase arrangement plus 2 delicate starting projects for a child's special occasion to include an everlasting (fresh to dry) posy and hand wrapping a child's "small flowers" headpiece. Supply fee is $15 per week. Successful completion of FD1 & FD2 required or permission of the instructor.

    Boat Smart Recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Association of Safe Boating Law Administrators as an acceptable recreational boating safety program. Boat Smart is presented by experienced instructors from the United States Power Squadron. Passing the in-class examination is required to receive a certificate of completion in boating safety. Many insurance companies offer discounts on marine insurance to clients that have successfully completed this course.

    Using Hardscape Materials in Landscape Design Pre: Co: Explore the properties of brick, stone, wood and composite materials used for driveways, patios and walkways, decks, steps and stairs, walls, fences and decorative features. Understand and feel confident in specifying to clients when and how to use each material based on site conditions, design implications and benefits. A different material will be studied each week accompanied by handouts that will be used to create your own design catalog to show the various hardscape choices to your clients. Please bring an empty three-ring binder.
