    Everyday Horticulture - Part 2 Lecturer, radio and talk show host, Deb Lambert, of the "Backyard Gardener" brings her 28 years of experience into the classroom for a four week lecture series on: "Ornamental Landscaping", "Maiantaining your Landscapes", "Pruning Essentials" and "The Edible Landscape". She will be glad to answer those "hard to find answers" to your questions and inspire you with many ideas to use in your home garden. She will unfold ideas on systematic planning for a full year of color and interest, select planting of fruit trees, small fruits, vegetables and herbs, determining watering and fertilization periods. You will learn how and when to prune, the proper tools needed, damage caused by storms and dressing wounds. Understand the advantages of container gardening the how to get the most out of each season. When winter returns you'll know the how to offer the TLC needed in mulching and protecting your flowering plants, shrubs and ornamentals. Limited enrollment.

    Holiday "Floral Design" Show Enjoy a light, sit-down breakfast and a lovely flower show designed with the Christmas holiday in mind. Our floral designers will weave their magic right before your very eyes! You may be one of several lucky winners in our free raffles. Learn some trusted and true floral design techniques while gathering useful ideas for home decorating and gift-giving. Cameras and cam-corders are welcome. Register early.     Songwriting for Beginners If you have ever written songs and would like to set them tomusic or vice versa, come and join our "songwriters workshop" and get even more creative ideas. We will critique hit songs, learn what makes a "classic hit" timeless, study a variety of artists style and help develop your own. Gust artists will perform during our last class. Learn about lyrics, hooks, rhyming, bridges and co-writing, demos, copyrights and publishing fact and fiction.

    Pre: Co: Elect: MUSICAL THEATRE FOR ADULTS: Many people would like to get involved with community productions, but feel they need some coaching before taking the big step to auditioning. Musical Theatre for Adults, taught from the community theatre person's perspective, will show participants how to properly move on stage, breathe correctly, improve their natural singing ability, gain confidence in front of others, and more! Wear comfortable clothing. The class will perform informally at the end of the ten weeks. No experience needed-just a willingness to improve! Class limited to 15 students.

    Pre: Co: Elect: EXPLORING ACTING 2: This enjoyable class is for people who have completed Exploring Acting or a similiar beginning-level adult course elsewhere. We will continue to explre ways of using the body, voice, and imagination to create characters for the stage. We will engage in a variety of theater games and improvisational exercises, and work with scripts from various plays. Actors with current stage experience seeking another opportunity to polish their skills are also welcome!

Participants will be involved with more multi-track and advanced processing techniques. Students will have an opportunity to record live musical presentations and complete several complex projects.

    Landscape and Garden Maintenance - Fall, Beverly Pre: Co: Gain hands-on experience at Long Hill, an outstanding country estate with historic gardens in Beverly owned by the Trustees of Reservations. Participate in fall landscaping and garden maintenance surpervised by the Long Hill staff horticulturalists. Learn about perennial garden maintenance, fall cleanup, winter garden protection, mulching, weeding, lawn care, woody plant culture, spring bulb planting, tool maintenance, and more. Informational handouts provided. Students select two of three mornings (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday).

    Landscape Design Basics I Pre: Co: Good garden design is the art of making beautiful gardens so that every part fits harmoniously into the whole. This requires getting to know the site, introducing different components, and learning how they affect one another to influence the space and atmosphere of your garden. Learn to approach a new site design by establishing priorities, creating a survey, and sketching in the outline ideas, and then drawing up detailed plans and clearing the grounds for action. Future landscapers and homeowners will enjoy this course. Textbook required, available at the Danvers campus bookstore. Prerequisite: Perennials, Annuals and Vines, and Graphics I, or previous plant identification and drafting experience strongly recommended.
