Ballroom Dance-Intermediate Pre: Co: Review and add to what you have learned as you build your ballroom dancing skills and confidence. Each week, review a different dance for an hour. The second hour will be open dancing with individualized assistance from the instructor. For anyone who has taken the two Basic Ballroom classes. Singles welcome. Please wear smooth-soled shoes.

Pre: Co: Elect: MODERN DANCE APPRENTICESHIP: Continue to challenge yourself in a congenial, non-competitive environment! This program is for dancers with some experience and others with considerable training. It is project-related and would be ideal for anyone seeking teaching skills, performance experience or dance making techniques. Open to men and women (age 16 and older). Please wear leotards and footless tights (women) or t-shirts and shorts (men). Shoes not required.

Latin Dancing Pre: Co: Celebrate the rhythm of "the Islands" and learn these delightful favorites for a lifetime of dancing enjoyment. You will learn all the important aspects of leading & following as you practice the easy-to-follow steps of the Cha Cha, Merengue, Samba, and Rumba. In addition, styling techniques such as Cuban hip motion and Samba pulse will create a special polish. Latin dancing is lively, sensuous, and often addicting. Come "feel the beat."

Pre: Co: Elect: INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCING: this interesting class is open to beginners and experienced folk dancers. Emphasizing basic techniques, the course will expose participants to European, Balkan, Scandinavian, and New England Contra Dancing styles. No partner necessary, but couples and families are welcome! Join us this summer! Meet some new friends in a congenial environment, and learn more about our rich ethnic heritage. Class limited to 25 students.

The Ancient Art of Wheat Weaving Wheat weaving is a cross-cultural art form, dating back to Egyptian times. Unique designs were created by different cultures, in celebration of a bountiful harvest Weavings, called house blessings, were placed on the hearth, to bless and protect the home through the cold winter months You will learn the basic weaves necessary to complete these ancient designs, and take home several wheat weavings over the three week class. Materials fee $25 payable to the instructor.

Watercolors 1 Beginning and intermediate students are welcome to explore mixing colors, the painting process and brush strokes. We will experiment with both transparent and opaque colors to create a painting that express views of your world. Individual expression and enjoyment derived from painting scenes of nature and still life will be the focus. A basic supply sheet will be mailed to registered students. Plan to bring paints, brushes and watercolor paper the first night.

Landscapes and Seascapes: A two-day workshop Pre: Co: Learn how to paint with watercolors while enjoying the outdoors. We will create watercolor landscape sketches that reflect our own impressions of nature. We will explore composition, form, tone, and color. Receive individual instruction in a group setting. Fundamentals of watercolor techniques will be stressed using a basic landscape watercolor palette. First class will meet at the Cummings, and then move outdoors. Pleae bring a sketchbook, eraser, and a 2B pencil for the first day of class. All levels of experience are welcome.
