    Pre: Co: Elect: PASTEL PORTRAITS: We will explore a variety of pastel techniques to ensure that each registrant will have an opportunity to complete one in-depth drawing. An emphaisis will be placed upon achieving proper proportion, as well as value and compostition. Experimentation and creative approaches will be encouraged, and several short studies will be undertaken. A model will pose for two classes (a $5 modeling fee may be required). Bring charcoal paper and charcoal to the first session.

    Pre: Co: Elect: INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL RUG HOOKING: Students will learn technique, color planning, and finishing skills in this tapestry style course. Each participant will work on a 14' circular pattern which can be fashioned into a pillow, picture, chair seat or tablemat. Come and learn how to hook rugs in the same manner as your ancestors! Students should bring $40 to the first class for supplies.

    Pre: Co: Elect: BASIC COUNTED CROSSTITCH: Counted Crosstitch is the latest range in needlework, and a wonderful pasttime skill to learn! We will create four different Christmas ornaments while learning the basics, using cross stitch fabric, counting threads, and embroidery thread. Come and learn a perfect skill for leisure time or vacations! There will be a materials fee of $10.00 payable to the instructor at the first session. Class limited to 10 students.

    Pre: Co: Elect: Drawing is the basis for all art-related pursuits. This class is designed for teenagers interested in improving their drawing skills, and is highly recommended for any students considering entering an art-related field., Various drawing exercises and techniques will be explored in an active but relaxed environment. Come to the first class ready to work with several sticks of vine charcoal, a kneaded and pink pearl eraser, soft-charcoal pencils, and an 18" x 24" newsprint pad. Students will have an opportunity to display classwork at the end of the session.

    Pre: Co: Elect: APPLYING TO ART SCHOOL: For ages 16 and over, Applying to Art School will explore the issues of; which schools have the most potential for artistic growth and career possibilities; selecting the school that is right for you; how to apply; and preparation of portfolios. Students will have an opportunity to present their work/portfolio, therefore, individuals should bring representative works to the workshop. Join us, and increase your chances of being accepted at the right institution. There will be a 30-minute lunch break.

    Pre: Co: Elect: Developed to meet the needs of intermediate painting students, Still Life in Watercolor will expand one's repetoire in the watercolor medium. We will create three basic still life compositions, explore each arrangement's possibilities (by adding and removing elements and observing from different perspectives), and increase the intensity of course content over the duration. Bring watercolor equipment, notebook, pen and pencil to class . Previous drawing or watercolor experience is essential. Limited to 12 students.
