Pre: Co: Elect: Enjoy the beauty of flowers atop a miniature tree; freestanding as a floor arrangement, or as an unusual centerpiece placed on a table to look like a Bonsai tree. Let nature be your guide when choosing the geometric form your tree will take. Next, select a container to compliment that effect; your tree may be actually be growing in it! In addition to our topiary project, ideas for creating actual, living, tree-top dwarfs will inspire you with more indorr gardening ideas. Pre: Co: Elect: Learn to make beautiful jewelry and other beaded objects with tiny seed beads using a variety of traditional Native American techniques. You will need to bring a paif of small, sharp scissors and a lot of enthusiasm. Students can purchase their materials & supplies in class through the instructor while browsing through a variety of interesting beads. Materials range from $12-18.

Pre: Co: Elect: CUDDLY-SOFT DOLLMAKING: A tender assortment of cuddy, soft dolls & toys work up very quickly. Knowledge of basic sewing skills & machine is needed. Patients can easily be adapted to make bunny dolls, mice, moppets and tiny tot dolls, too! FIve handcrafted dolls to delight children of all ages or make for resale. Clothing trims, hair styles and interesting techniques for "finishing touch" work will appear to make your cuddies come alive. A supply and materials list will be sent to each enrolled student.

Pre: Co: Elect: Are you stumped by the words "8 millimeter," "Hi-8" VHS-C" and Beta"? Have you recently obtained a camcorder and would like to know how to use it more effectively? This class will teach you techniques on how to internally edit each video as you are capturing those special moments. All of your camcorder and maybe even some of your VCR questions will be answered! If you don't know, don't be afraid to ask.

Fresh Flower Arrangements Pre: Co: Elect: Why pay the high cost of sending flowers when you can learn the art of arranging and completing your own each week to take home. Several styles will be created; formal triangle, right angle, long low, and round or mount arrangements. You will also design corsages, boutonniers and hand-held bouquests for proms and small weddings. Learn the professional techniques used and enjoy this fragrant and lovely art form. Students will reimburse the instructor for forms and flower purchases (approx. $11.00 per week). .

Basic Music Theory Pre: Co: Elect: This is an essential course for anyone studying music. Note reading, musical terms, sightseeing, and musical dictation will be included. Emphasis will be placed on developing skills which would supplement private music lessons. Class limited to 15 students, ages 14-adult.

Pre: Co: Elect: FOTO FORUM: This seminar-style class for teenagers is ideal for someone who has a 35mm camera but wants to improve. technical aspects of photography will be reviewed, such as; shutter speeds, focusing, lighting, equipment, etc. But the real "focus" of the class will involve weekily projects to share with classmates. Slides of assignments should be brought to each meeting, so that everyone can see your work. An emphasis will be placed on increasing on's ability to really see the world - and then capture it on film! Film, developing, costs, equipment, etc., not included in course fee.

Pre: Co: Elect: BASIC CAMERA INTENSIVE: This course will cover f-stops, shutter speeds, focusing, depth of field, films, composition, flash and filters - but in a condensed format designed to meet the needs of vacationers! Owners of 35mm SLR cameras seeking ways to create that perfect summer photgraph - or needing some advice or suggestions are welcome to attend.

Pre: Co: Elect: LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY: Alternating between classroom instruction and time spent in the field photographing together, Landscape Photography could be just the class to give your hobby a new focus! So that examples of your work may be more easily viewed, we will be using color slide film. However, black & white or color print film may also be used - for people with access to a darkroom. Please bring examples of previous landscape work and your 35 mm manual camera to the first class. Transportation to three off-campus locaitons is also necessary. Limited to 20.
