    Watercolors Basic - Afternoons This class is designed for the "new beginning" painter and those wishing to "revive and refresh" their watercolor painting skills. Come and explore the delicate and yet, vibrant qualities of this versatile medium. We will learn about brush strokes, how to mix colors, the painting process, composition and experimenting with various water color techniques. We will emphasize putting creative, personal ideas on paper in this very relaxed and informal setting. A basic supply and information sheet will be mailed to all registered students. Limited to 14 students.

    Memoir Painting This is an exciting way for beginner artists to learn how to paint and a refreshing and stimulating resource for more advanced artists. Students learn to harvest memories, dreams and recollections and then turn them into visual images. A simle step-by-step process helps you to build artistic knowledge while developing your personal ideas into paintings. The artists Pierre Bonnard, Pable Picasso, Anna Mary Moses, Gabriele Munter, among others are studied. Acrylic paints are the medium of choice for beginners, however, any medium may be used.

    Pre: Co: Elect: Learning a calligraphic "hand" is only half the fun - learning how to use it is the other! We will cover principles of lay-out and design, how to use color, border design, review various materials, and share studio tips. Specific projects using applicable skills, such as creating greeting cards, designing invitations, envelopes, borders, etc. will be included. Calligraphy skills are essential. Students should bring $20 to the first class for materials. Class limited to 15 students.

    Calligraphy As Creative Art Pre: Co: Elect: Now that you have learned the basics of calligraphy, are you limited to invitations and poems? Absolutely not! This course will concentrate on creating your own unique works of art out of your skill. Some techniques discussed are: size and scale, using color, layering letters, creating texture, and others. Examples from the instructor's portfolio will help you see the potential for calligraphic art in design, fine arts, or gift making. Basic knowledge of any callgraphic alphabet is required, but "refresher beginners" are welcome to refine their skills. A supply list will be mailed to each student prior to class.

    Holiday Floristry Pre: Co: Put it all together for a gorgeous holiday look in your own home. Demonstrations will include wreaths, centerpieces, kissing balls, boxwood tree, and topiary. Holiday fresh flower arrangements will also be demonstrated, including techniques for tying the perfect bow for your arrangement, incorporating candles in your wreath, and gilded fruit. A materials fee of $80 will be payable to the instructor at the first class. Call us at (978) 236-1200 to send directions at least one week before the first class.

    Flash Photography-Intensive So you want to know how to add a little light to the right part of the picture? This hands on intensive workshop will provide training in flash photography beyond the fundamentals. We'll review the basics as well as practice bounce flash, off camera flash, slow sync flash, open flash and working with multiple flashes. Flash accessories will also be discussed. Students need a basic knowlege of photography and have a removable flash unit. (Built in units will not work for this class.)

    Experimenting In Water Colors II Students who have basic watercolor experience may register for this class. Our focus will be on each individual's personal expression and the aesthetic enjoyment in creating and painting sceans of nature and still life. You will work with a variety of "old familiar and then "new" brush stroke techniques. Learn to experiment with both transparent and opaque colors to create a painting which expresses your own unique view of the world! Bring your favorite watercolors supplies to each class. Limited to 14.

    Pre: Co: Elect: MASTERING MUSIC: Have you been playing an instrument or singing for two years or less? This introductory theory course will help demysify principles of music utilized by composers and arrangers, and help you to make faster progress through greater understanding. Emphasis will be placed on reviewing the basics, such as; meter signatures, clefs, key signatures, rythmic values, terminology, and, if time permits, and introduction to harmony. Please purchase a music manuscript notebook. Class limited to 12 students.

    Using a base of fragrant pine balsam & assorted everygreens, we will create a full scale (24") outdoor holiday wreath complimented with a festive velvet bow & snow covered pine cones. Bring any special "keepsake or special ornaments" you would like to attach to your wreath. Bring gloves, wire cutters or small pruning sheers. Materials fee $14.00 will be payable to the instructor the night of the workshop.
