    Decorative Painting on Metal Pre: Co: Learn to paint Spring flowers and create a one-of-a-kind design to be painted on a metal surface of choice. Bring a metal or galvanized watering can, bucket or another metal surface to paint on. An antique watering can is a wonderful choice for this project. This decorative piece will be a great way to brighten up a porch, garden area or deck. All levels of painters including new painters are welcome.     Watercolor "Holiday Greeting Cards Create your own holiday memories to share with friends and family depicted in miniature form. These personalized greeting cards can easily be laser copied for duplication to send over the holidays. This is truly a unique and authentic way to express yourself. Once completed, you may simply want to keep individual cards for framing. Watercolor cards will be provided in class. Bring your own painting supplies and practice paper.

    Introduction to Photography This class will introduce effective operation of automatic and manual 35MM cameras. Learn about lighting, filters, metering, depth-of-field, f-stops, and creative strategies for composition. Bring camera and notebook for first class.

    Thinking Outside the Box Pre: Co: Einstein once said that he never would have come up with e=mc squared if he had not been able to play with an idea. Businesses today are looking for people who can think playfully or creatively, "out-of-the-box," as they say. Workers need to spend unstructured time in acts of imagination in order to tap into their playful side where they can create, invent, stretch, and dream of what could be. Through this guided hands-on art workshop, participants will be lead in a series of exercises designed to help them tap into that source of innate creativity where their playful side exists so they can be more open to new ideas. All materials provided for a $10 per person fee.

    Raising Kids to be Innovators Pre: Co: For parents and educators of young children, lead by Paula Baulieu, M.Ed. a veteran educator whose business is to help people connect with their creativity. Today's research suggests that creativity in American children is declining, and the greatest concern is for children now in elementary school. Paula will provide evidence of current research on the subject, some causes of the decline, and some practical, non-time consuming ways that parents and educators can encourage their child's creative exploration so that we can grow the next generation of innovators in this country.

    I Love My Rug! - Designing Miniatures Pre: Co: Elect: If you have been admiring the smaller, handcrafted, designer rugs in catalogs & stores, perhaps you should design one of your own! Select from thousands of pattern ideas from Native American themes, flower or geometric designs used in quilting, or even a family coat-of-arms. We will enlarge and transfer your choices, show you the various new rugmaking needles available and the creative use of yarns and fiber threads. Make the pile as luxuriously high or as low as you like and within weeks you will be admiring and enjoying your own designer rug. Bring to class an 8" embroidery hoop, some scrap yarns. All needles and fabric backing will be demonstrated and discussed during the first class.
