Focus on Figures II-More Drawing People Pre: Co: Building and reviewing the basic proportions of the human figure, hone your skills through observation and drawing a live, clothed figure. Models will create a variety of different poses suggesting movement as well as stillness. Open to all levels. Bring a large newsprint pad of paper, soft vine charcoal, kneaded grey eraser, soft rag, pencil. A $15 model fee is payable to instructor at first class.

Explore Flowers and Animals in Various Mediums Pre: Co: Have fun rendering flora and fauna using your choice of mediums: acrylic, pastel (not oil-based) watercolor, water based oil (not oil-based), and/or pencils. Learn to draw and paint petals, leaves, fur, feathers, scales, eyes and other distinctive features. Focus on facial expressions, fur patterns, and unique characteristics. Explore shape, form, lines, shade, foreshortening, and proportions. Bring photos of your favorite animals or use plant models. Numerous demonstrations and individual attention included. A $20 materials fee payable to instructor at the first class. Bring whatever supplies you have to the first class. Instructor will go over any additional supplies you may need. All abilities welcome.

Mixed Metal Watch Pre: Co: Make a funky mixed metal watch. Create the watchband elements from mixed metals: copper, bronze and silver sheet. Incorporate the range of metalworking skills learned in Jewelry and Metalsmithing: Introduction, such as cutting, filing, sanding, dapping, texturing and applying patinas. All tools and materials supplied by the instructor. A $35 materials kit is payable to the instructor in class, including a battery-operated watch face. Drawing Outdoors Pre: Co: Learn different drawing techniques while enjoying the outdoors. Develop a journal of images collected from walks, both photographed and sketched. Drawing is vital to develop a wide range of marks for creating tonal mass and texture. You will record scenes and objects through both photos and studies to be assembled in the journal. You will be encouraged to work with a variety of drawing materials, from charcoal to pastels. First class will meet at the Cummings Center in Beverly.
