    Painting in the Garden Pre: Co: Enjoy painting in the summer breeze. Create a portfolio of paintings at two different Trustees of Reservations estates: Long Hill in Beverly and Stevens Coolidge Place in North Andover. In each session we will build on painting techniques and on observational and compositional skills. Students are encouraged to bring cameras for additional studies. The first class will meet at the Cummings Center in Beverly.

Examine haute couture, ready-to-wear, and mass market fashion. Explore the design process, from spotting trends to drawing and draping and garment design. Learn about the history of fashion and how it influences today's garments and accessories.

    Wildflower Wreaths Bring in your collection from this winter's garden, or select from an array of dried flowers in class to make lovely dried-flower wreaths for your home. Wreath size: round/oval 14" & grapevine round 8". We will talk about methods that work beautifully when drying your plants, books on everlasting flowers and some folklore while we explore and identify individual plants perfect for drying. Students may reimburse instructor weekly for dried flowers ($11-$18) and for natural twig/vine wreaths ($2-$3 each).

    Holiday Ornament Workshop Pre: Co: Hand-made Christmas ornaments bring a special feeling to our homes during the holidays. Fun and easy-to-make ornaments include tree decorations of lace angels, ribbon roses and lace fans, mini-baskets, old fashioned bows, candy and dried fruit garlands plus heirloom ornamental treasures from local crafters and artists. Or if you wish, you may create a decorative Victorian tree-top table center- piece. A supply fee of $20 per person is payable to instructor before class.

    Basic Fingerpicking Pre: Co: Do you know a handful of open chords? Are you tired of playing the same strumming patterns you learned years ago? Would you like to learn "pattern picking" or improve your fingerstyle playing? If yes, this course will teach you arpeggio patterns, a three-finger pick, how to incorporate your flatpicking into syncopated rhythms; including walking bass runs and the ever-popular Travis picking. Reading skills are not required. Acoustic guitars only. Limited to 12 students, beginner to intermediate.

There is a simple way to unfold the information you need to begin enjoying your guitar. This visual/auditory approach is very relaxing and requires no reading.     Beginning Voice Pre: Co: This is your opportunity to learn how to sing correctly and gain confidence in your vocal ability. Improve your tone, production, find your natural singing range, learn some helpful exercises, and ease into feeling comfortable singing with other people. Each journey begins with one step, and this is one you'll not want to miss! Open to 12 adult beginners or singers who are already in training. Class is held at the instructor's home in Ipswich.

This class is taught by touring R and B recording vocal stylist and performing artist with 10 cds to his name, Barrence Whitfield. You will see his rare collection of video footage of live pereformances from industry legends. Class discussions will include how artists have shaped history, finding inspiration, achieving goals and creating success.
