What works best and still keeps expenses down? Wedding design instructor, Ann Barnett, owns and operates A Special Ocassion floral business that specializes in weddings. She will network with prospective new brides and individuals who wish to design or decorate for an upcoming wedding celebration or special event.

    Knitting 101 Pre: Co: Would you like to learn how to knit? Through "hands-on" application, you will create a handmade and/or wearable item. Starting with a simple project, learn the "how-to's" of knitting: about the weight and usage of many beautiful and available types of yarns; how to measure; using the correct size and type of needles required for individual projects; and how to read patterns accurately. Everyone will create something wonderful! Materials needed: light colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 knitting needles.

Improving and preserving healthy soil helps to regulate water; sustain plant and animal life; cycle nutrients; filter potential pollutants; even helps reduce our carbon foot print. Look at soil from a chemical, biological, and structural context, and map out steps to improve what rests below our feet.

    Artful Gifts: Paint, Printmaking, Wire-works & Pastels Pre: Co: Make gifts using a wide variety of materials and techniques. Students will make greeting cards, gift-wrapping, and gift tags using mono printing, crayon-resist techniques and collage. We will transform a plain cardboard box into a keepsake box to be proud of. The final project will incorporate all of the different techniques into the making of a journal. Please bring recycled magazines, a sketchbook and #2 pencil to the first day of class. Open to all skill levels. A $10 material fee will be payable to the instructor at the first class.

    Exploring New 3D Media - Session II Pre: Co: Focus on working with 3-dimensional projects. Studio demonstrations include: working with clay, wood, wire, fabric, stones, found objects, and paints. Learn about sculpture by studying works from both traditional and contemporary artists. Projects include making desk organizers, wall hangings, clay animals and more. Measure and bring in a rough sketch of your backyard and indicate where the sun rises. We will fill in your yard with ideas on walkways, play areas, decks, wildlife attractions and ideal locations for gardens with lots of beautiful plants.

    Knitting 102 Pre: Co: Do you know how to knit but want to continue a current project or start a new one? Work with knitters at various levels who want to work together, and share ideas. Topics will include: finishing touches, repair techniques, analyzing common problems, working with more than one color, or yarns of different textures, and sharing resources. Bring in any work in progress, instructions for your new pattern, sewing and knitting needles, yarn(s) and you.
