Actually, each of us has a visual artist within us, we need only learn how to translate these images into visual communication. This will be an entertaining and informative course, looking into the industry, observing the works of authors & artists, past & present, and learning how to apply these principles into our own illustrations, for personal use or for publication.

    Harmonica for Beginners Pre: Co: Elect: Most people have tried to play this instrument at one time or another, now you will learn to play it with confidence. We will cover all the basics first, how to hold the instrument, learn the "c scale," produce chords, and play simple melodies. As you progress, you will start to play some tunes of your choice, we encourage you to bring in a cassette tape or one with tunes you want to learn. Styles of music to choose from aree Pop, Folk, Rock and of course, Blues. We will also cover many special effects and train sounds...Lots of fun, Limit 15 students.

    Five Drawing Techniques Pre: Co: Explore the world of drawing through this enriching process -oriented class. You will be encouraged to experiment with charcoal, pen and ink, acrylic, conte crayons and more. Plan to leave with a portfolio of drawings and at least five drawing techniques. All materials provided for a $15 fee, payable to the instructor at the first class.

    Pastels in Paradise Pre: Co: Elect: Blue lagoons, purple skies and vibrant rose tones can be radiantly captured using this expressive art medium. You can also create soft and sensitive images through color blending with pastels. This is a good opportunity to learn about color blending with pastels. This is a good opportunity to learn about color theory while translating your drawing skills into a working knowledge color, or develop your painting skills through the use of this dry medium. Students will learn the proper techniques of this medium while developing their own personal style through individualized in-class instruction. For optimim results, students should bring a 24-set of pastels, a newsprrint pad, large sheets of toned pastel paper and a stiff drawing board to class.

    Artist's Studio Pre: Co: Open to all students with prior painting experience. You will be encouraged to develop your own portfolio of work while learning new techniques. Demonstrations, techniques, and other artists' techniques will be explored along with weekly critiques. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves and work!

    Bowmaking For Florals & Crafts Pre: Co: Elect: Put your money back into your pocketbook & learn how to make beautiful bows, large & small, solid or multi-colored, by designing your own. The techniques are easy to learn and it only takes minutes - you'll save money in the long run. Learn the correct texture & fabric type needed for certain bows, where to purchase supplies in a riot or colors, sizes and styles from today's "big bow" wired-ribbon to lacy & ruffled ribbon. I'll demonstrate first, then work with you to help you learn how and you'll bring home some lovely bows and show off your new craft! A small supply fee for materials used (approx. $3-6) should be paid to the instructor. Scissors required: sketchbook helpful.

    Catch the Beat Pre: Co: This musicianship program is designed to encourage and motivate rhythmic and melodic sight singing, keyboarding, and basic theoretical concepts of ear training. Voice and diction will be emphasized at all levels and in all class presentations. Learn tips that will help you to prepare for an audition, where you often need to quickly adapt to an unfamiliar musician.

    A Day of Drawing, Painting and Pastels Pre: Co: Learn to draw with color. This class will focus on the element of line. Examine artists such as Brice Marden and Bridget Riley to develop ideas of our own. Take home three paintings and many ideas by the end of the day! All required materials will be supplied in class for a $20 materials fee, payable to the instructor in class.

    Print Making Pre: Co: Explore using water-soluble printing inks that come in luscious colors. First you'll create one-of-a-kind monoprints from different surfaces. Then create multiple prints from etching onto a surface "printing plate," that can be inked again and again to produce multicolored prints that make beautiful cards, collages, or works of art to hang on your wall. No experience necessary. A materials fee of $10 is payable to the instructor at the first class.
