    On Location: "Landscapes at the Long Hill Reservation" Pre: Co: "On location" photo shoot will include such topics as: choice of subject matter; learning to "see" what your lens sees; framing images; choosing the correct outdoor light with or without flash fill; and composition to create visually appealing images. The photo shoot will last 2 1/2 hours, with constructive input from the instructor. Class will meet at Long Hill Reservation, on Rte 22, in Beverly. Students from all of the "On Location" trips are invited to bring developed photos to a follow-up class at the Cummings Center on August 4th, from 9 to 11 am, to share and discuss your results.

    Floral Sampler Pre: Co: Learn to make practical floral designs for every day and special occasions. The class will give you an overview for using easily available flowers. You will learn techniques for the care and conditioning of plant material. This is the class for anyone who wants to learn floral design for personal enjoyment. Please bring scissors. A $108 perishables fee is payable to the instructor in the first class to cover the cost of flowers and supplies. No prerequisite.

    Scrapbooking Pre: Co: Treat your photos like they deserve to be preserved. Learn how to create beautiful album pages for a permanent record you'll be proud to pass on to future generations. Using your own photos, and four simple techniques: cropping, mounting, journaling, and enhancing, you will soon learn how to turn those boxes of photos and memorabilia into treasured keepsake heirlooms. Bring 10-15 of your own photos. A $10.00 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.     Make Art With Polaroids Pre: Co: Using an unusual artistic technique, you will learn to make Polaroid Emulsion Transfers, a process that brings a more painterly and unique quality to your photography. Bring up to five of your own 35mm slides or transparencies to class. We will expose your slides to professional Polaroid film with the instructor's camera. When boiled in water, the Polaroid emulsion image separates from the paper. We slide this image onto 11x14" watercolor paper. Large format Polaroid film and 11x14 watercolor paper will be supplied. A $50 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class to cover the cost of film.

    Gourd Painting Workshop Pre: Co: Add color to your landscape and explore your creativity by painting your own unique gourd birdhouse. A slide-show presentation will show you how humans have used gourds throughout history as nature's most natural and obvious container. This will also lead to ideas for your own designs. You will use acrylic paints to create a colorful birdhouse to decorate your yard, patio or home. Birdhouses make wonderful house-warming, wedding shower, or baby gifts. Come...explore the possibilities. Gourds, paints and brushes will be provided. A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class.

    On Location: "Halloween's Ghosts and Goblins in Salem" Pre: Co: There's no place like Salem during October's Halloween festivities. So, load your camera and pockets with film, and join us on a "Witch City" photo shoot. Capture images both wonderful and strange: crazy costumes, decorated shops and pushcarts, historical images, gravestones, and more.     On Location: "Holiday Images at Quincy Market" Pre: Co: Join us at Quincy Market for a holiday "on location" shoot. Load your camera with fast film and bring a tripod to capture the lights, decorations, and holiday shoppers at night at one of Boston's famous landmarks. Learn to successfully take photos in low light conditions, and use longer exposures. Meet downstairs under the central rotunda of the food court.     On Location: "Landscapes at Castle Hill" Pre: Co: Catch the sunrise from the top of Ipswich's Castle Hill, and the magnificent views of Plum Island Sound from the castle's Grand Allee. Topics of discussion will include: choosing subject matter; learning to "see" what your lens sees; framing images; choosing the correct outdoor light with or without flash fill; and composition, to create a visually appealing image. To get there: drive past the gatehouse to the top of the hill and meet in the parking lot next to the castle. The photo shoot will last 2 1/2 hours with constructive input from the instructor.     Photoshop Album Workshop Pre: Co: Learn how to create digital photograph albums using this exciting new tool from Adobe. Explore the basics of sharing, preserving, organizing, and fixing digital images on your home computer. Use Photoshop Album to store, find, and display any digital image on the computer. Create calendars, slide shows, and custom email presentations with your favorite images. Fix simple problems such as cropping, color adjustment, and red eye correction. Explore the basic interface to Adobe's powerful image software, Photoshop Elements.
