The Science of Sport Where is the sweet spot on your baseball bat? Hoe do karate experts break boards without breaking their hands? Why don't spinning figure skaters get dizzy? In this course we will examine the science behind the games we love to play. We'll also explore how to eat in order to improve performance, how to avoid injury with proper stretching and how to treat such ailments as: Turf Toe, Swimmer's Shoulder and Road Rash. You'll agree that the best athletes are not "dumb jocks" but, in fact, are those who understand and follow scientific principles that govern their sports. Limited to 12 students, ages 9-13

Meet the Beat (ages 7-9) This class is for young rhythm enthusiasts and will include not only snare drum rudiments and drum-set styles like rock, jazz and Latin rhythms, but also mallet techniques on the glockenspiel and other auxiliary percussions. Students will receive an introduction to music theory for counting exercises as well as hands-on rhythmic studies.

Puppet Production (Grades K-4) Pre: Co: Bring your favorite folk or fairy tale to life with puppets customized by your own imagination. Develop acting techniques, assemble props, and design a set as you prepare a lively production for family and friends. A $10 materials payable to the instructor at the first class.

How Things Work (ages 10-14) Join us as we embark on a journey to explore the ordinary in extraordinary ways. During each session. we will discover a fundamental scientific concept while dissecting familiar houselhold appliances and common machines. Topics of study range from the building of the pyramids and the generation of electricity to the evolution of the Internet. Don't forget to bring along your curiosity.

Picasso Portraits (ages 10-14) The great works of Pablo Picasso have always reminded us that whimsical representations in art can have great appeal and impact. We will create portraits of ourselves and others-using a variety of satisfying techniques like crayon melting, collage, acrylic painting, group pieces and more.

Write Attitude - Creative Writing for Kids (ages 10-14) Pre: Co: Words are the power behind inspiration. Give them rhythm and pattern and you've got poetry. Let them glide through the river of imagination and you've got a story. Toss them artfully between characters and you've got drama. Try a little of each form and find your own write attitude!

Magic in a Tree House I (6-9) Pre: Co: Join Jack and Annie as they experience a series of adventures that make history come alive! Through fun activities and projects, discover what it would have been like to romp with the dinosaurs, serve with the knights, and play among the pyramids.
