    Cyber Segments Do you know how to surf? We will begin this basic adventure into computers by familiarizing ourselves with keyboarding, using a fun program to see how fast we can type! We will investigate word processing and graphics as well. Using our imagination, we will discover how to write a silly story, including graphics in our creation, with the Children's Writing and Research program. And we will navigate the Internet - visiting various websites using search engines, as well as research a favorite topic or hobby. Class limited to 12 students, ages 9-14.

    Computers and More This course is for those who surfed through our basic course. We will enhance our word processing with advanced skills; and we will build a database using familiar information, such as basketball statistics or other interesting data. We will navigate the Internet and use clip art to get graphics; and we will learn to design a basic web page of our own! And finally, we will visit a local business that is part of the Cyber district in Lynn to see firsthand the inside workings of a computer business. Class limited to 12 students, ages 9-14.

    Meet the Beat This class is for young rhythm enthusiasts and will include not only snare drum rudiments and drum-set styles like rock, jazz and latin rhythms, but also mallet techniques on the glockenspiel and other auxiliary percussions. Students will also receive an introduction to music theory for counting exercises as well as hands on rhythmic studies. Ages 7-9.

    Anatomy of a Culture Do you ever think about what world language you would like to study later on in middle school or high school? Then this course is for you. Learn about the French and Spanish speaking countries from Europe to South America and around the world. Explore the origin of these languages from where they are spoken to the cultures of these countries through their art, music, culinary art and movies. Experience the fun of communicating in Spanish and French, which you may decide to build on as you progress through school. Class limited to 12 students, ages 9-12.

    Getting it Together (ages 10-14) This class is designed to help children speak more comfortably in front of groups and develop organizational skills. Learning these skills early can help children learn how to balance school requirements, extra curricular activities and family responsibilities. Discussions will include forgotten homework, understanding assignments, realistic planning, basic body language and dealing with fear. Students will participate in role-playing exercises such as planning a party, meeting someone new and brief oral presentations.

    The Painter's Workshop (ages 8-12) Do you love to paint? Would you like to improve your skills and explore new techniques at the same time? In this class we will explore many different ways of painting and some unusual painting projects. We will experiment with large paintings, stenciling, collages and book making. If you are an artist at heart, or if you just want to come try something fun, this class is for you.

    Harry Potter's Adventures II (ages 8-12) Pre: Co: After reading their own copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at home, students will participate in a discussion taking them through Harry's magical world while emphasizing some earthly subjects, such as vocabulary expansion and reading comprehension. New recruits and graduates of "Harry Potter's Adventures I" are encouraged to enroll.
