    Name That Game How do you like to play? Do you like to make things, play board games, draw or play fast ball games? Whatever you like, we'll be offering these types of games and much more. You'll have the chance to meet other kids who also have their own special ways of playing. You can also bring in and share your favorie games with other kids. We'll have special materials so that you can make your own game box to take wherever you want. Please join us in the fun. Class limited to 12 students, ages 8-10.

    "Draw Japanese" This course is designed for the student who likes to draw and who wants to learn a secret code of the orient-- JAPANESE! Using the text Japanese for Children, the class will draw the 46 letters of the alphabet, build his own word list and illustrate each word with a hand drawn picture. The class project will be a picture dictionary that each student will take home for further enjoyment.

    Magic of Puppetry and Masks (6-9) Pre: Co: Read and recreate great stories with different kinds of masks and puppets. Favorite Kids to College instructor, Susan Chiaradonna, will help you discover children's theater. "Become" the characters you make such as: shadow puppet, marionettes, "stick-sticky," finger and sock puppets, animal and 3-D masks. Join the fun! An $8 fee must be paid to the instructor at the first class.

    Biology for the New Millennium (ages 9-13) Biology has changed more than any other scientific discipline in the past fifty years since the structure of DNA was discovered. In this course we will explore "the new biology" as we study cloning, gene therapy and other procedures that will continue to challenge biologists in the new millennium. We will address what seemed like science fiction only a few decades ago. Through experimentation and cooperative learning, we will master the fundamental principles that will guide biologists in the new century.

    Whales, Tails and Othr Flukes of Nature: This course is for kids who love the sea and the earth's largest mammals, the Whales! We will learn about echo location by playing games, see live film footage of whales, and learn interesting facts about these fascinating creatures. We will try our hand at scrimshaw on homemade whale's teeth, design a Save the Whales poster or T-shirt, create an informational coloring book and mobile, and make models of dolphins and whales with clay and paper mache. This course is packed with hands-on activities, first encounters of the whale kind and tons of fun! A natural ist with expertise in the "Ways of the Whale" will present an up close and personal slide show on this legendary mammal. Class limited to 12 students, ages 8-12.

    Fun with Forensics Forensics is a word which we are hearing more and more about everyday. Become a super-sleuth and enjoy the fun as we learn to solve mysteries through the science of forensics. Whether we analyze lip prints on a glass, dust for fingerprints or view hair follicles and clothing fibers under a microscope, we will soon understand how forensic chemists cleverly uncover the hidden clues which lead to the solving of crimes which otherwise might never be unraveled. Class limited to 12 students, ages 10-14.

    Who lives in Hawaii and has a mysterious past? Is it the hard working Menehune, the wealthy Leprechaun, the screaming Bunyip or another of the mythical wee-folk from around the world. Taste, feel, and hear the qualities found in each culture. Write your own legends, create a dance, present your own original folk tale or legend. It's great fun and a cheap way to travel to far away places. Class limited to 12 students, ages 8-11.

    World Traveler What do happyface spiders and purple bread have in common? We'll find out as we take our passports and go on a world tour. Creat art from Mexico, play the Celtic harp, learn an ancient kahiko dance and much more. Read stories about chldren from other places and see what they do for fun. Then we can do it too!     Cardio Kickboxing for Kids (ages 8-14) Cardio Kickboxing is a high-energy exercise program that incorporates basic and advanced martial arts techniques and combinations into a cardiovascular workout set to popular music. The class also includes drills, games, and exer- cises which improve upon the students' balance, flexibility, strength, coordination and personal awareness. In addition, the students will be taught practical self-defense maneuvers that are effective against any aggressor, regardless of size and strength.
