Today the revolution in the knitting crafts is a return to personalized designs by each knitter. Explore your own creativity in this course for knitters who can follow a basic sweater pattern. Learn how to alter patterns to fit YOU. Persoanlize your designs by embellishing patterns with British gansey stitches or two color knitting or lace designs. The dyeing and spinning of wools will also be discussed. Bring four ounces of knitting worsted and two quite different size needles.

Using a variety of stitching techniques and color shadings, one can produce a needlework piece that looks like an oil painting. During the six week course, each participant should complete at least one picture and learn how to frame it. Kits are available starting at $18 which the student will purchase from the instructor at the first class.

Pre: Co: Elect: MODEL SHIP BUILDING FOR FUN AND PROFIT: A plank-on-frame model shipmaking course where students will first learn how to build an exact model of an Amesbury Grand Banks dory. Included in the course will be information on ways to begin a money-making hobby by selling what you make. People who already have a kit or have begun a model ship are also welcome to work on these during the course. There is a $20 materials fee, payable to the instructor for all plans, woods, and use of tools. Class limited to 15 students.
