6 credits Full-semester, full-time practicum in the role of teacher of students with moderate disabilities (PreK-8). The placement can either be full-time in an inclusive general education setting or 75 hours in an inclusive general education setting and A minimum of 225 hours in A setting for students with moderate disabilities. Practicum is under the supervision of A supervising practitioner and University program supervisor and is accompanied by a seminar addressing issues in the field. Prerequisite: Completion of A 75-hour early field experience, required pre-practicum courses, and MTEL requirements. Permission required. Usually offered fall and spring semesters.

Practicum is under the supervision of A supervising practitioner and A University program supervisor and is accompanied by A seminar addressing issues in the field. Prerequisite: Completion of A 75-hour early field experience, required pre-practicum courses, and MTEL requirements. Permission required. Usually offered fall and spring semesters. ECOMP 5003 Technology in the Mathematics Curriculum 3 credits This course explores how technology-supported activities can make mathematics both engaging and understandable to students (and teachers). Using simulations, video, web-based applets, spreadsheets, visual databases, and software programs, participants carry out mathematical investigations and connect them to standards-based content goals through problem solving, reasoning, communications, and connections to the real world. We also consider how experiences supported by technology can help K-12 students make better sense of mathematics.

3 credits This course integrates kinesthetic modes of learning with the use of movement as a language for interdisciplinary inquiry. Students will explore embodied approaches to curriculum applications, and the critical questioning and exploration that exist at the heart of creative movement as an art form will deepen the students’ comprehension and retention of curriculum themes. Furthermore, students’ work with the social,cultural, and political dimensions of non-verbal communication will allow them to engage with issues of cultural diversity, critical pedagogy, and democratic schooling. 1 credit An exploration through music and movement utilizing the voice, percussion, and various instruments. Chants, blues, gospel singing, Native American music, African jazz, Asian music, and folk dances will be included. Techniques of improvisation and authentic movement will be used. An awareness of differences and commonalities in world music will be addressed.

1 credit This course explores the improvisational movement practice of authentic movement. Students learn to express their inner impulses and experiences through movement and the discipline of moving and witnessing. Students learn applications to education, performance, and therapy.

3 credits Promotes understanding, appreciation, and responsible action toward the environment through hands-on arts activities including music, movement, storytelling, and visual arts. Key environmental issues and ways to develop environmental education in the curriculum are studied.

3 credits This course familiarizes students with stages of human development from childhood through adulthood. Knowledge of human development is enhanced through interaction with art materials, music, movement, drama, and writing.

3 credits Creates connections between children's literature and the arts-music, art, creative movement, drama, andstorytelling. Explores A broad range of genres of quality literature for young children, encourages active involvement in language development, investigates approaches for emergent literacy skills, and develops understanding of cultural diversity of story.
