3 credits This course will work on the three different language skills - speaking, reading, and writing. Grammar forms, basic vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing skills will be taught and practiced in A variety of ways. Practice in conversation is combined with pronunciation and role-playing activities. Reading and writing activities will reinforce cultural content with the goal of obtaining A greater understanding and appreciation of Hispanic culture.

3 credits This course will work on the three different language skills - speaking, reading, and writing. This course is the sequel to CLANG 1101. Building upon the foundation of the introductory course, more advanced grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing skills will be taken up in sequence. There will be an emphasis on conversation, pronunciation, and role-playing activities. Through film, short cultural readings, and brief articles, the course will expand the student's understanding and appreciation of Hispanic culture. Prerequisite: CLANG 1101 or equivalent.

3 credits This course will work on the three different language skills - speaking, reading, and writing. We will read and write about texts, newspapers, cultural topics, and films while improving oral communication skills in Spanish. Conversational skills will be improved through class discussions on topics of cultural, academic, and professional interest. Relevant grammar points will be reviewed and combined with written practice to improve overall fluency. Prerequisites: CLANG 1101, CLANG 1102, or permission of the instructor. (A placement test will be given the first class to evaluate the student's level and to determine the correct course placement.)

3 Credits An in-depth study of several aspects of Spanish and Latin American literature and civilization. We will examine how attitudes, values and mores are manifested in Hispanic literature, history, language and civilization. Oral and written reports will examine linguistic, cultural and literary aspects of Hispanic society. We will pay careful attention to grammar and to developing stronger reading, listening and writing skills. Prerequisites: CLANG 2103, or permission of instructor. (A placement test will be given the first class to evaluate the student's level and to determine the correct course placement.)

3 credits Following initial review of the fundamental principles of English, American pronunciation and intonation, the course will focus on intensive development of the four linguistic skills (listening comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking). Supplemental cultural materials, including audio and video tapes, magazines and newspapers, and literary texts will be used regularly.

3 credits This integrated skills course is designed to help the student develop more advanced academic reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. It is intended to improve the student's ability to analyze, interpret, summarize, and paraphrase material, and to think and read critically. Rules of English grammar, syntax, and rhetoric will also be reviewed.
