There will be experience in wood assemblage, wire, clay modeling, paper sculpture, bas-relief in plaster, and paper mache. Students will also explore making sculpture with A conceptual emphasis such as mobile, stabiles, and site specific or environmental works.

1.5 credits This course is an introduction to the AIB computer lab, the Macintosh computer interface, and several of the software programs necessary for students to complete class assignments. A general overview of the school's available technology is also covered. Students from all majors are given a general familiarity with the Mac OS X system, as well as how other programs interface with it. The course enables students to be able to work efficiently on A Mac, use various equipment such as printers, scanners, graphic tablets, digital cameras and external hard-drives, and gain A basic idea of how to work with images, computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Macintosh software, as well as the World Wide Web.

1.5 credits Students learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator CS, one of the leading illustration programs used by professionals. Students learn the basics of Illustrator-how to maneuver through the program-as well as some real-world techniques and tips to make full use of the software. The goal of this class is to provide students with the abiility to incorporate Adobe Illustrator into their art. By the end of the semester, students should have A strong grasp on the program through A series of in-class lessons, short weekly homework assignments, and a final project.

1.5 credits This course is an introduction to the basics of Adobe Photoshop, including creating and manipulating images for print and the web. Use of all the basic tools, as well as incorporating this knowledge into individual artwork are taught. In-class and homework assignments include manipulating personal imagery, producing creative artwork, and learning through critiques and discussions. Although the class is very technical, creativity is equally important.

1.5 credits This required course for all Photography majors (replaces the 1.5 credit studio elective in the first semester/freshmen year), introduces photoshop to photographers who have little or no experience with Photoshop. We begin with the basics of the program, bringing in images, creating images, and learning to output them for both print and the web.

1 credit This is an introductory class in the use, design and construction of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). It prepares students for using HTML to design and troubleshoot web pages. The course covers vocabulary terms and computer functions common to HTML for the Mac. Through class exercises and homework assignments, students develop A working knowledge of HTML which gives them A solid foundation in the first language of the World Wide Web, and prepares them for more advanced classes. Students try different software applications that produce HTML and discuss their uses. Everyone produces A sample web site. Prerequisite: ICOMP 1900 or permission of instructor.
