Fall and Spring Semesters Explores effective approaches to dialogue. Group projects and individual scripts are related to the Theater concentration in Communication. This is not a screenplay writing course. (Same course as COM 2476). Prerequisite: ENG 1280 or ENG 1290.

Fall and Spring Semesters Focuses on writing as a lifelong skill, exploring strategies for gathering and organizing the material most relevant to the intended audience. Essays, reports, and articles (including the use of other media), serve as case studies for examining the function and style of writing in various professions. Organized as a workshop for writers, the class gives intensive consideration to each student’s writing. Prerequisite: Six (6) credits of English at the 1000-level.

It will include several exercises and Catalog 2007-08 83 writing assignments of essay length, and a final revised portfolio. Member readings included. Fall and Spring Semesters Sub-editors will generate story ideas, edit stories, produce and edit photography, supervise reporters, proofread copy, and assist in layout. Sub-editors report directly to the editor and must attend the weekly two-hour staff meeting. (Same course as COM 2506, GD 2506). Prerequisites: ENG 1501, ENG 1502, ENG 2900, and six (6) credits of English at the 1000- level. Subject to approval of the editor and the faculty advisor of The Currier Times.

Offered Every Semester Offers hands-on experience in producing a literary arts journal. As staff members of the Curry Arts Journal, students engage in all aspects of the year’s edition, including publicity, critiquing, editing, proofreading, design, layout, and events planning. Students may enroll in one or both courses, earning up to four credits per semester and eight credits during an academic year. Course may be repeated once. Prerequisite: Six (6) credits of English at the 1000-level.
